Photography

I don't consider myself a photographer as much as an intermedia artist. Photography is one of many media I use to document moments and ideas. I also don't sell my photographic work, for two reasons: 1) I shoot for myself as an exercise in seeing and to document my observations, and 2) because there are a great many photographers out there in the world who are more dedicated, talented and deserving than me, and I feel it would be disrespectful of them to promote myself as a photographer when I'm not.

While I love straight photography and traditional methods, I lack the discipline and resources (read: darkroom, etc.) required to do it properly. Digital is definitely more accomodating to my style of working.

As far as subject matter, I think it will become rapidly self-evident that I am particularly interested in environmental photography, both built and natural. This probably stems from my architectural education in my early college years, where I was taught to pay close attention to how our surroundings affect us.
